How Many Treatments And How Often?
There are three distinct hair growth stages including Anagen being the active growth phase, Catagen the regressive phase and Telegen the resting phase. It is only during the Anagen active growth phase where the laser energy can be sufficiently absorbed and destroy the follicle. We recommend a course of six to twelve treatments at the correct weekly intervals so we can target that phase of growth. The cycle for each hair is not sychronised which is why it’s important to have multiple treatments and at the correct time for each body area for optimal results. e.g. every four weeks for facial hair, every six to eight weeks for body. Hormones, menopause, medications and medical conditions may increase growth and subsequently top up maintenance sessions may be required more frequently.

What Are The Possible Side Effects?
Although no procedure is entirely without risk, the potential side effects of correctly administered Laser Hair Removal treatments are minimal. Occasional side effects include minor redness and skin irritation. Although very rare, hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation are potential side effects. To reduce the likelihood of this it’s essential to avoid sun exposure and fake tan during the course of your treatments to reduce the production of excess melanin. For your peace of mind, Broome Laser Clinic can perform a patch test with our Candela™ medical grade laser. Laser safety is paramount at Broome Laser Clinic and maintain the highest standards at our clinic. We choose Candela™ Alexandrite and Nd:YAG laser technology because it has been proven to provide optimum laser safety so you know you’re in safe hands with our Laser Hair Removal treatments.

Is Laser Hair Removal Painful?
The level of pain experienced during laser hair removal can vary from person to person, and it depends on several factors, including individual pain tolerance, the sensitivity of the treated area, the type of laser and cooling device used, and the skill of the technician performing the procedure. We use the latest technology to ensure a safe, comfortable and effective experience. The Zimmer Cryo 7 System delivers a constant stream of cold air throughout the treatment and can also be used to pre-cool sensitive areas. Many clients report the majority of their treatment to be very comfortable with no sensation at all. Some have likened the treatment in sensitive areas to the feeling of a light flick of a rubber band against the skin. Throughout your treatment, your Technician will communicate with you to ensure your comfort level.

Why Should I Have Consistent Treatments?

It is essential to follow the recommended treatment schedule provided by your laser technician to achieve the best long term results.

Do I Have To Grow My Hair?
When you come in for your first consultation a treatment a small patch of short visible hair in each treatment area can help us better tailor a plan for you. Between treatments you may shave as many times as you wish. This will not affect your results.
-
Why Do I Need To Have A Close Shave?
To maximise the benefits of laser hair removal by allowing the laser energy to target the follicle below the skin’s surface effectively and reduce any potential side effects including irritation or surface hair burning.
-
Can I Get Laser Hair Removal Over A Tattoo?
The short answer is no. Even if you are planning to have that tattoo removed anyway, it is considered unsafe to perform Laser Hair Removal over the area in question. That’s because Laser Hair Removal machines aren’t designed to be used on tattooed skin. In addition to potentially distorting your tattoo, performing Laser Hair Removal on a tattooed area can lead to burns, blisters or skin damage.
-
Can Blonde, Grey, White Or Red Hair Be Treated?
Since blonde, grey, white and true red hair contain very little if any melanin the laser energy can’t be absorbed to destroy the follicle. Some red hair with melanin may be targeted, however, it will require a greater number of treatments and may not have as much clearance in comparison to that for dark hair.
-
Why Can't I Have An Active Tan or Fake Tan?
Laser hair removal targets the pigment (melanin) in the hair follicles. If you have an active tan or fake tan this can cause the laser energy to be absorbed by the skin rather than primarily targeting the hair follicles. This increased absorption of laser energy by the skin can lead to burns, blistering, or other adverse reactions including post-treatment hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin) or hypopigmentation (lightening of the skin).

Medical History
You will need to give us a full medical history at the consult and we only commence treatment if we are confident you are medically suitable for it. There are certain contraindications to laser which mean you cannot have the treatment. Some of these are: pregnancy, roaccutane users, recently had a peel or laser resurfacing. Any matters of concern we will refer you to a doctor if necessary for clearance.

Difference Between Laser And Other Devices?
The main difference between laser and other devices including IPL, SHR and CBL is in the precision of targeting hair follicles and the depth at which the energy is delivered. Laser hair removal is more selective, precise, and effective in targeting hair follicles during their active growth phase, ensuring the destruction of the follicle. Other devices are less precise as they use a broad spectrum wavelength which scatters, targeting a range of skin structures, making it less specific for hair removal. Laser Hair Removal is quick, efficient, thorough and effective.
